Chessington World of Adventures & Zoo: creating a challenge
Our work with Chessington World of Adventures & Zoo gave us the chance to test out our creative skills. With the remit of positioning the park as THE choice for families with particular focus on mums and toddlers and the 8-12 tweenage market, we launched the Chessington Challenge to create new news hooks.
Pitching the Challenge to the media resulted in broad-ranging coverage from Blue Peter’s young chefs talking about their favourite food while riding the Vampire Roller Coaster to Time FM’s Breakfast Show stuntwoman riding the Dragon’s Fury while singing ‘Life is a Roller Coaster’.
Not forgetting the importance of the Zoo, we secured a regular feature for Chessington’s animal trainer in popular tween magazine Animals & You and challenged radio breakfast show presenters to make a gorilla smoothie – a favourite tipple of the gorillas at Chessington – via a carefully targeted media drop. This resulted in name checks across BBC and independent radio stations and Sir Terry Wogan posing for a photograph.
